About Luke
Luke Giddings serves as Project Manager for the Rural Growth Initiative (RGI) and is actively leading work on Project Hometown SC, coordinating day-to-day efforts to help rural South Carolina communities attract, retain, and grow the residents they need to thrive. He brings a unique blend of public-sector leadership and hands-on community development experience to the RGI team.
Luke currently serves as Mayor of Bishopville, South Carolina, having been elected in 2023 with a focus on community empowerment and economic development. He also serves as Executive Director of the Community Foundation for a Better Hartsville.
His professional background includes marketing and business development, service as Assistant Administrator for the Lee County Veterans' Affairs Office, and work with Nexsen Pruet Strategy. He studied Business Administration and Management at Central Carolina Technical College, completed the Municipal Elected Officials Institute of Government, and is an alumnus of the Riley Institute Mayors' Design Fellowship.
Luke serves on numerous boards supporting a variety of causes throughout the region. A student pilot and outdoor enthusiast, he is passionate about helping rural communities succeed and strengthening rural America for future generations.
